The 20 of Alphen

A sporty performance run along various distances, or rather a running contest? Everything is possible in Alphen. A large number of contestants, from home and abroad, participate every year in a running contest over 20 kilometers.

History
The Carrier 20 of Alphen is an official International Athletics Road contest and is registered as such on the international I.A.A.F. Roadrace calendar. Since 1991 the “20 of Alphen” is part of the Run Classics, a series of national road running contests in the Netherlands.

As far back as the 14th of may, 1953, the “20 of Alphen” was staged for the first time and since 1974 it is a yearly recurring event. Since 1997, it is possible to also enter 1 km, 2,5 km, 5 km and 10 km stages.

The event can be seen as thé classical opening of the Dutch running season and is therefore the ideal trial contest for the Dutch as well as the international top athletes as a preparation for major spring marathons, such as the Rotterdam marathon.
