boskoop-3Alphen aan den Rijn is surrounded by the four major cities of Holland, but also by a number of smaller villages and cities, like Gouda and Leiden, each having its own characteristics and history. There are also some nice lakes in the area. It is certainly worthwhile to visit these cities and villages. On January 1 2014, Alphen aan den Rijn will merge with the municipals Boskoop and Rijnwoude. The new municipal will have beautiful polder landscapes within its borders and Boskoop, the nursery center of the Netherlands and the world’s largest united nursery area in the world.
